A Special Christmas Giveaway

I should have done this sooner! This project has been in my head for quite some time now.

My youngest, Fin, was diagnosed with Autism two years ago. It was a painful time. I am a registered nurse by profession, but I didn’t have any idea about autism. I was clueless! I didn’t know where to look. I wanted to know more and understand it better. I wanted to be that mother who did everything to equip him for life. I want him to be surrounded with people who will help him overcome his condition rather than be with people who will label him one way or another.

And so my search began! I joined forums, read books, touch based with autism parents. Sadly, most of them, weren’t based in the Philippines. The autism program were more in depth in other countries. We don’t have that here! We don’t even have enough therapy centers to accommodate the number of children who needs proper therapy – OT, speech, PT! I don’t know of any support groups for families of children with special needs. Is there? Are there enough special schools to embrace kids with special needs?

I want to meet families who are more or less in the same boat as I am. I, truly, want to photograph families of kids with special needs. I have been taking family pictures for awhile now. Traveled around Cebu just to meet them, but I haven’t met a SPECIAL family. If you know of a SPECIAL FAMILY who wants their photos taken, let me know. I would whole heartily do it for FREE.
