Yana's birthday session
Yesterday, I delivered Yana’s birthday session photos.
I met Yana and her family last October. She didn’t smash her cake but instead grabbed a few bits to taste. Such a lady! I guess she didn’t want to ruin her dress. She enjoyed walking around while holding her parent’s hands. That’s when she’d break into giggles. Some kids like movement while others prefer to stay put.
Thus, every time I photograph little kids, I leave my expectations at home. I welcome chaos and even crying episodes because these are some of the ways they communicate. Birthday sessions do not have to be textbook perfect. They just need to be YOU! Your FAMILY.
The most challenging part is when I feel that I need to capture something that isn’t there. But the most rewarding is when I am given the freedom to capture WHAT IS THERE. Just the way it is!
