Aiden's Totoro themed birthday

I had to educate myself who Totoro is. I am so lame when it comes to these things. I’m old school or just old!

My Neighbor Totoro according to google is a Japanese animated fantasy film. It tells the story of two young daughters of a professor and their interactions with friendly forest spirits who lived nearby. Totoro means a magical creature. This made me understand the set up of Aiden’s party. The trees and the two girls with Totoro up on the stage and the green color theme, too. That was my — Aaaaaahhhh! That explains everything!

I first met Mae last year when I did their family session. I can still remember her sisters and how little Aiden was back then. Meeting her again, documenting her son’s first birthday, made my heart burst with gratefulness. That’s how I always feel when I meet the families I photographed over the years.
