Manuel & Jewela's Wedding
Sometimes when I feel frustrated about certain things, I go back to writings that inspire me.
Last night I came across the Design Aglow blog article entitled The Copycat Epidemic. There were two points there that went right thru me. In order to break the copycat cycle, I need to know what makes me different. The non-conformist me gave myself a pat on the back. I’ve always wanted to be different! I’m true to what I tell my clients that each photographer have different photographic voice and style. I can’t do this and that’s style of shooting because that is not how I am. I remember a meeting I had with a client. She asked if it would be possible that I document her wedding, but how I edit the pictures will be according to how she wants it. Stunned! I stammered and explained about individual styles of editing and the creativity that goes with it. I’m sure I turned beet read. I was so embarrassed I wanted to hide under the table.
The other point mentioned was that I should mind my own business…. literally! I do! I should focus on growing and evolving. I follow a few photographer friends. These are people who has found their individual style of shooting. I can distinguish their work one from the other. They inspire me without them even knowing. I stay away from that part when I start to compare my work with that of another. Comparison is the thief of joy after all!
The above paragraphs has nothing to do with Manuel and Jewela’s May wedding. I just had to write the above done. Just so I could put it out there. Just so you know, too.
Here are some photos of Manuel and Jewela’s big day.
