The original plan was to have their engagement session in Plantation Bay. Gilda wanted something different. Off we went to Alejandra’s garden in Balamban.  It was super hot when we got there. The temperature during daytime rose to thirty-eight degrees Celsius.  I worried about the heat and how the photos will come out. So I asked shyly if we could wait for a better and softer light.

Alejandra’s garden is just beside Adventure’s cafe. To pass the time, we decided to go there and shoot a bit. The clothes they wore for the first set was perfect for a coffee date.

I am grateful for the time we spent talking about anything we could think of.  It was also a chance to know Gilda and Ven a little better. I asked my usual questions like where did you meet.  How did he propose? She said there was no kneeling down and all the sweetness that goes with a wedding proposal. Ven, she said, isn’t the cheesy type.

I always look for emotions and interactions when I photograph couples. For the many years that I have been doing what I do, this has been my greatest motivator. Emotions. Call me a romantic but these (laughter, whispers, stares, touch and little things that go in between) has propelled me to take pictures with meaning.  If some chase the light, I chase the little things in between.

Thank you, Gilda and Ven for yesterday.
